History

The Singapore Bio-Bank (SBB) formerly known as the Singapore Tissue Network (STN) was established in 2002 as a national non-profit tissue bank under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). The SBB serves as the National Tissue and DNA Repository with the aim to facilitate the conduct of the highest quality of translational and population research for the Republic of Singapore.

The SBB is funded through the Biomedical Research Council (BMRC) which serves to provide the infrastructure required to support Singapore’s Biomedical Sciences initiatives.

The SBB strategic direction and guidance are provided by a Scientific Advisory Group, whose members represent key opinion and executive members of Singapore’s clinical, research and scientific entities.

Our Mission

  • Our priority is to ensure that donated materials are used for scientific research based on    merit and excellence. The SBB will support worldwide academic and commercial collaborations in Singapore’s biomedical initiatives
