The Singapore Bio-Bank fosters participation in the following collection:
Project driven collections for which a grant proposal has been written, submitted either within and/or outside Singapore for a specific research objective with accompanying study protocol. Prioritization will be given to projects with scientific merit and excellence, coupled with peer reviewed grants with accompanying funding.
The Singapore Bio-Bank will work towards avoiding duplication of research projects and prevent conflicts of interest between existing projects and new applications.
Collecting and processing samples
- Logistics and advice for donor consenting and collection process. State-of-the-art facility for the receiving, processing, quality control and storage of samples with complete sample tracking.
- Standardized operating procedures for the collection, processing, storage and distribution of samples.
- Extraction of DNA from whole blood, buffy coat, cell lysate, saliva etc.
- Cell immortalization to generate continuous cell lines for DNA.
