Collecting and Processing Samples  

 

The STN fosters participation in the following collection
 
Project driven collections for which a grant proposal has been written, submitted either within and/or outside Singapore for a specific research objective with accompanying study protocol.   Prioritization will be given to projects with scientific merit and excellence, coupled with peer reviewed grants with accompanying funding.

STN will work towards avoiding duplication of research projects and prevent conflicts of interest between existing projects and new applications.     

Collecting and processing samples  

  • Logistics and advice for donor consenting and collection process.  State-of-the-art facility for the receiving, processing, quality control and storage of samples with complete sample tracking.  
  • Standardized operating procedures for the collection, processing, storage and distribution of samples.
  • Extraction of DNA from whole blood, buffy coat, cell lysate, saliva etc. 
  • Cell immortalization to generate continuous cell lines for DNA.

Samples archived at STN  

  • Matched / unmatched DNA
  • Matched / unmatched serum, plasma, red blood cells
  • Immortalized cell lines from isolated lymphocytes 
  • Urine, saliva, lymphocytes
  • Snap frozen and paraffin embedded tissues (disease and matched control)
