Ethical Processes

The Singapore Tissue Network is committed to following the highest standard for ensuring donor’s rights for privacy and confidentiality. Our operating standards and policies are centered on informed consent where participants /donors engage in a dialogue with the party seeking the consent. All medical information is kept confidential by a system of sample coding and anonymization.

We ensure that prospective donors understand that their donation is entirely voluntary and secondary in nature to their diagnosis.

The tissue repository guidelines follow that of Singapore’s Bioethics Advisory Committee, which is a panel of respected opinion leaders appointed by the Ministry to study the ethical, legal, and social issues arising from research on human biology. The BAC works closely with an international panel of advisors to develop and recommend policies to the Life Sciences Ministerial Committee of Singapore.
